Vision & Mission
Electrical Inspectorate Engineers’ Association, Kerala is the sole association of the Engineers of the Department of Electrical Inspectorate, Government of Kerala. The Association was formed in 1978, nine years after the formation of the Department of Electrical Inspectorate in Kerala, with the aim of bringing together all the Engineers of the Department for their professional and personal betterment.
After five years, the association was registered as a registered organisation of the Department. The headquarters of the Association is at Abdul Vahab Memorial Engineers House, Thiruvananthapuram. The building is named in memory of Er.Abdul Vahab, former General Secretary, who was in the forefront in organizing the various activities of the Association. To extend its activities in North Kerala, the Association has another office at Ernakulam. The first President was Er.M.Udayabhabu and the first General Secretary was Er.M.P Bhattathiri.
The Association has been instrumental in keeping, its members, abreast of the latest developments in Electrical Engineering Technology by conducting at least 3 seminars every year. In the last 32 years more than 100 seminars were conducted. This is an achievement which no other organization can easily claim. The papers, in these seminars were presented by talented engineers and scientists of various national and international companies and institutions. In this regard, it is to be noted that in the early eighties itself, the Association had taken the lead in imparting computer education to its members.
Yet another activity of the Association is publication of technical diary and calendar every year. The Technical diary is a reference book on design and maintenance of electrical installations. It is a hand book for all electrical engineers and is widely used all over the county by practicing engineers, consultants, contractors, technicians and students. The diary is updated every year. Now it is the Electrical Inspectorate Engineers’ Welfare Society which publishes the Technical diary every year. In 1992 the Association brought out a Souvenir, containing valuable articles on design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of electrical installations.
Besides, the above technical activities, the association involves in charitable activities also. In order to give special attention to charity, the Association formed Electrical Inspectorate Engineers’ Welfare Society in 1992. The Welfare Society takes care of the welfare of the members and the general public.
The Society has made notable contributions to the literacy mission activities of the Government. Every year the Society makes free distribution of books, study materials and uniforms to students from the weaker sections in various districts. Also, the Society has made financial contributions to the Chief Ministers Relief Fund, Kargil War fund, Tsunami Relief Fund etc.
Another notable activity of the Welfare Society along with the Association is the presentation of proficiency Awards to the children of the members for their outstanding performance in SSLC, CBSE and ICSE Examinations every year. The Awards given are Electrical Inspectorate Engineers’ Association Gold Medals, Dr.T C Sidhan Memorial Endowment Awards in memory of Dr.T C Sidhan, the first Chief Electrical Inspector and Er. Lal Tharian Memorial Awards in memory of Er.Lal Tharian, Deputy Electrical Inspector.
The Association is affiliated to Kerala Engineer’s Federation, a confederation of service associations of engineers functioning in various state Government Departments. The Association has made all this progress only due to the efforts of its members. A website has been launched to fulfill the long cherished dream of its members. It is dedicated to the departed members of the Association.
